Great product it removed some very deep scratches from my aquarium with just a little elbow grease.
#3 is GREAT for scratched NetFlix / Blockbuster rental DVD's October 16, 2008 BOB (LOS ANGELES, CA) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I picked up this 3-pack a few years ago to just have around for general purposes.
However, I've always had a double-digit percentage of the NetFlix / Blockbuster mailed rental DVD's arrive so moron-scratched, they won't play all the way thru.
This was annoying, as the discs have to go thru a mail-return-replacement procedure that slows down the maximum number of rentals that can be achieved in a month's cycle (which both companies love, BTW; less mailed discs, more profits in their pockets).
So, I gave the #3 a whirl on one recalcitrant disc, and VOILA, it worked. I've probably #3-de-scratched 50+ rental discs since, and only 1 or 2 were so badly dinged they couldn't be recovered.
I put 2-3 smll dots of #3 on the data side and rub fairly vigorously (with the disc placed on a paper towel on a flat surface, naturally; if you try to hold the disc and clean it, you'll probably snap it in half).
I also make DAMN sure I COMPLETELY clean both sides of the buffed DVD before re-insertion into the player. If the grit in the #3 were to get into the player's mechanism, it would not be a good thing.
Another tip: The #3 solution invariably dries & plugs up the inside of the pop-up cap applicator, so keep a paper clip handy to clear it.
I've always mused that I should send NetFlix & Blockbuster invoices for repairing their discs. Hmmmmmmm... 50+ recovered discs times wholesale cost? That's a nice chunk of savings for them.
Great for iPod October 31, 2005 E. Lauritsen (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
i got this product, just novus 2, from a wood working store to remove the scdratches from my iPod Nano.
that and a 16000 grit piece of emery cloth will work wonders
This stuff works. Read the directions !!! January 31, 2008 Great Movie Addict (New York City) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Works on most plastics and acrylics, but not on everything (read the instructions!) and takes a little effort (read the instructions!). Item description states that the kit includes polishing cloths, but no cloths are included. Use a soft cotton remnant or old cotton hankie (read the instructions!) - do NOT use paper or tissues or anything except plain old cotton stuff. I've repaired many a plastic picture frame, clock frame, and for years have used Novell on clear plastic modeling items such as model airplane canopies. Did a nice job of repairing scratches on an acrylic desk cover. Cleans CD's and DVD's pretty well, too, but don't try to use it on the label side of CD/DVD media -- use it on the bottom. DO NOT USE on coated items such as TV screens, LCD monitors, etc. -- it will remove the anti-glare coating on plastic, glass, or lenses (read the instructions!). Badly damaged items will take a little time and effort, but this stuff does work.
As advertised - A + product November 15, 2008 Shawn Stowell 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this product, it does exactly what it says it does. I have a mild case of OCD and i own a Samsung HDTV along with a Playstation 3 which both have shiny piano black plastic surfaces. Bad combination, they are both completely prone to scratches.
Actually the whole reason why i am writing this review is because i just now repaired the top of my HDTV and it looks a lot better than it did before it got scratched up. My friend came over and stupidly placed his digital camera on top of the tv to have a stand to do a video. Well i didn't think much of it at first but by the time i realized he was sliding it all around the top i knew it was going to leave some nasty scratches. With flashlight in hand, much to my prediction i found some pretty bad scratches, some were kind of deep. No big deal though, i just applied the plastic polish #3 which removes deep scatches and they came out for the most part, i had to apply the product a few times and rub hard but they are barely noticeable now. It looks a LOT better than it did before. Also make sure you use the plastic polish and shine #1, that helps get rid of the haziness the other 2 bottles leave behind and helps shine the plastic back to original form. Awesome product, without this i'd probably not be able to sleep some nights thinking about scratches on my beautiful 800 dollar tv lol.
So if you're like me and have shiny scratch prone plastic i highly recommend this product, it really does work wonders
