Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractors aren't real doctors, are they?
Chiropractors are certified doctors, trained to practice chiropractic care. Following graduation from a degree program, chiropractic doctors must pass National Board Examinations and state licensing tests before they may practice.

Dr. Ruvich has a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been practicing as a chiropractor for over 20 years.

Will insurance cover the cost of chiropractic treatment?
Increasingly, more and more insurance companies are including chiropractic care in their coverage plans. These benefits may include full or partial coverage. Contact your insurance company to see if you are fully or partially covered by your health insurance plan.

Is it true once you start, you have to go the rest of your life?
We will ensure that you will receive only the number of treatments necessary to correct the problem. Because our bodies are self-healing, your body will tell us when you no longer need chiropractic care. This may occur after one treatment, or it may take more. Through specialized, scientific techniques, we will know when your body has successfully responded to treatment. And, we always provide you with options and communicate the benefits and consequences when discussing your treatment plan.

Also, patients sometimes confuse "maintenance care" with treatment.  Patients who receive "maintenance care" following treatment are less likely to need extensive care for their condition in the future.

What if my problem is not a "back problem?"
Your body is self-healing, and chiropractic care helps enable the self-healing process. All body functions are controlled by the central nervous system, brain, and spinal cord. If the cause of your medical condition is a result of irritation or pressure on a nerve, chiropractors are trained to relieve this problem. Since these nerves are commonly located in the spine, chiropractic doctors are commonly mistaken to healing only back problems.
